The newsgroup rec.gambling.poker often has posts requesting information on cardroom poker games in the Albuquerque/Santa Fe area. Based on the number of requests it's pretty easy to conclude that Albuquerque and Sante Fe are popular travel destinations for poker players. One of the more popular types of posting on rec.gambling.poker is the trip report, where a poker player posts on essay on recent travels and their poker and gambling exploits on the trip. Most of them make very good reading, some at the very top of quality poker literature. Even if you're not planning a trip to Albuquerque, I think you'll enjoy reading the trip reports by poker players Kevin Thomas (1997), Ed Barrett, and P S Loris (1998). The older of these trip reports might contain some out of date information, so be sure and verify any information that's important to your plans.

The trip reports suggest pretty good game conditions at Sandia Casino cardroom. And, Sandia seems to get good recommendations in responses to queries about Albuquerque poker. Wayne Cowey, Ed Barrett, P S Loris, Tbill, and Pearson Cummings have all recommended Sandia to poker players.
